The Power of Choice – or The Inner Magic
The purpose of this newsletter is to challenge our habitual thinking and feeling and behavior -such as “following” habits or influencers or authorities – in order to make new more responsible decisions.
If we know it or not, every single day we make decisions – consciously or unconsciously. Acting or not acting, talking in an intimidating or victimized tone of voice or a kind one, repeating habitually and often unconsciously what your ancestors did (or repeating their fears) or changing habits – it’s all decisions. And the small stuff matters just as much….
Significant decisions, such as relocating continents, starting a family, or plunging into love, often leave us on the brink of uncertainty.
… I’m all about that gut feeling—the silent whispers of intuition. Without it, I’m like a bird with clipped wings, unable to soar to new heights. Yes, sometimes, it’s not just about reaching some goals, but learning from painful experiences….
While I can analyze the pros and cons like a seasoned analyst, it doesn’t always reveal the true desires of my heart. Call it whimsical, call it daring, but that gut feeling? It’s my guiding light.
✅ How do you navigate life’s maze of choices? Are you team intuition, trusting those initial tugs at your heartstrings, or do you prefer to crunch numbers and analyze until the break of dawn, or combine both?
Let’s swap stories, share insights, and maybe, just maybe, uncover the magic behind our decision-making process. One thing is crystal-clear: if you are aware or not, you make decisions all day long and co-create consequences as well ….
Is Karma Real?
Karma is the idea that your actions have consequences, shaping your future experiences. It originates from Hinduism and Buddhism. In the Western world we talk about cause and effect or common sense.
Do you believe in Karma? And how does it shape your daily decisions?
Are there some decisions you make that don’t align with what you really want? Which ones???That’s totally normal – for animals of habit.
❇️ Stay tuned for some genuine talk in this newsletter!
In Gut We Trust
Dr. Michael Chang, a prominent neuroscientist at MIT Cambridge, posits that free will is an illusion, citing extensive research indicating that brain activity precedes conscious decisions. This suggests that our choices are predetermined by neurological processes, with societal influences further shaping our behaviors. In essence, Chang concludes that while we perceive ourselves as autonomous decision-makers, our actions are ultimately dictated by biological and environmental determinants.
However, Stephen Hawking, the renowned theoretical physicist, offers a compelling counterargument. While he acknowledges the role of neurological processes in decision-making, Hawking argues that human consciousness is too complex to be entirely explained by deterministic explanations. He contends that phenomena such as creativity, intuition, and moral reasoning cannot be solely attributed to neuronal activity. Moreover, denying the existence of free will undermines moral responsibility and ethical accountability.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of attributing our behaviors solely to external influences or inherited traits, neglecting our inherent responsibility as human beings. However, true responsibility comes with the freedom to make informed and wise choices, transcending the limitations imposed by deterministic views
In my over two decades as a ‘Walking Life Coach,’ I’ve encountered numerous stories.
I love the sprinkle in people’s eyes when they “change their minds”, open up and dare to explore more – accept their power of decision…
Let go and experiment something new
To access free will, we require several key components: awareness of our surroundings and ourselves, the ability to reflect on our thoughts and feelings without complete identification; independence to make our own choices, free from undue social pressure or intimidation; clear thinking about options and their potential consequences; taking responsibility for our actions, instead of blaming others for our decisions; and understanding the concept of choice itself, acknowledging our ability to select from various alternatives and recognizing that our decisions are not entirely predetermined by external factors.
You are the Magic
You have the power to choose how you respond. Perhaps, in the midst of your daily routines, you may not always recognize your own magic. It lies in the way you perceive the world, in the warmth you bring to others, making them feel acknowledged, valued, and accepted just as they are.
Consider this: there’s a revolution brewing within you – it is painful – challenging the status quo, urging you to carve out new paths, to follow the wild calling of your heart. It’s the glow of your inner spark that illuminates the room, your tenacity in pursuing what truly matters—people, beliefs, goals, dreams. While you may not be fearless, you’re willing to confront your fears for the things you hold dear. 🔥 Congratulations and 🔥Welcome to new possibilities! 🔥
When faced with adversity, remember, you have a choice. You can succumb to cynicism, or you can choose the path less traveled—the one paved with kindness, love, and unwavering hope. Even on the darkest of nights, know that you possess the ability to be the last flicker of light.
For so long, you’ve sought magic outside yourself, but can’t you see? You are the essence of magic.

If you are eager to better align your decisions to meet your true needs and talents check out my Mentor-Coach services or simply take some time out to reflect, courageously consciously feel by yourself and experiment with the practical steps below! This is not another duty – it’s learning another way to do the things you do!
Practical Steps
a. Hone Intuitive Abilities: Practice tuning into your intuition by setting aside time for quiet reflection or meditation. Pay attention to subtle inner nudges or gut feelings when faced with decisions, and trust your instincts. Regularly journaling your intuitive insights can also help in recognizing patterns and honing your intuitive abilities over time.
b. Cultivate Mindfulness: Develop mindfulness practices such as mindfulness meditation or deep breathing exercises to cultivate present-moment awareness. By becoming more attuned to your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, you can make decisions from a place of clarity and centeredness rather than reactive impulse. It’s not an extra duty-more of a lifestyle!
c. Systematic Decision-Making: Implement systematic approaches to decision-making, such as your intuition, the pros and cons list or decision matrix technique. Break down complex decisions into manageable components, evaluate each option objectively based on predetermined criteria, and weigh the potential outcomes before making a final choice.
d. Seek Input: Don’t hesitate to seek input or advice from trusted friends, mentors, or professionals when faced with significant decisions. Consider different perspectives and gather relevant information to make a well-informed choice and make decisions that align with your values, priorities, and intuition.
e. Learn from Mistakes: Embrace mistakes (I know it’s not easy…) and failures as valuable learning opportunities. Instead of dwelling on past decisions gone wrong, reflect on what you can learn from the experience and how you can apply those insights to future decision-making. Cultivate a growth mindset that views setbacks as stepping stones to growth and resilience.
Navigating the Maze of Consumerism 💥
Feeling frustrated, angry, and deeply saddened by the relentless bombardment of consumer culture is a sentiment many of us share. Each day, we’re inundated with marketing pitches, promises of instant gratification, and flashy advertisements vying for our attention. While it’s understandable that businesses seek to promote their products and services, I can’t help but yearn for more authentic connections in a world saturated with superficiality.
In a landscape dominated by social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and television commercials, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. We risk becoming entranced by the allure of material possessions and external validation, neglecting our inner compass and the subtle whispers of our soul.
The prevalence of spiritual gurus selling enlightenment and coaching industries peddling dreams of success only adds fuel to the fire of my frustration. It feels like we’re being sold illusions of fulfillment and happiness, perpetuating a cycle of dissatisfaction and yearning for more.
Meanwhile, conflicts and wars raging across the globe serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for a collective reset for humanity. Perhaps, amidst the chaos and noise of modern life, the path to transformation lies in the power of small, conscious choices made each day. By prioritizing our inner well-being and aligning our actions with the greater good of our planet, we can begin to reclaim our humanity and forge a path towards a more sustainable and harmonious future.

Dealing with Conflict
Conflict often originates within each of us, doesn’t it? True freedom isn’t found in glossy ads or sales pitches, nor in material possessions. It’s about reclaiming our power and responsibility, aligning with our values, and sharing our unique gifts with the world.
In the face of societal pressures and external influences, it’s essential to question our beliefs regularly and make choices that resonate with our souls. By embracing self-empowerment and living authentically, we can break free from the cycle of conformity and forge our own path towards fulfillment and purpose.
What do you think? What do you feel?
Navigating the Depths of Feelings and Emotions:
Everyday Business
Who isn’t caught in a whirlwind of emotions here and there, unsure how to steer your ship? One habitual thought can create a habitual emotion. Emotions and feelings pack a punch, holding immense power within us—power that, if harnessed consciously, could propel us toward our wildest dreams.
Understanding the nuances between feelings and emotions is like unlocking a treasure chest of untapped potential. Feelings, those fleeting whispers of the soul, come and go like waves on the shore. But emotions? They’re the heavyweights, carrying the baggage of past experiences. Left unresolved, they can anchor us down, leaving us adrift in a sea of turmoil – make us victims of the past, victims of habits, victims, rescuers, persecutors until we wake up, and exit the drama triangle.
We’ve all been there, right? That moment when our reactions feel automated, as if we’re passengers on a runaway train with no control in sight.
What could be the positive use of fear or anger or sadness, you might question. Nature works pretty amazingly: Fear, anger and sadness can have a positive reason to be: fear pushes creativity, anger can help to set boundaries, say stop, yes, no, a little less – sadness can connect – “a testimonial of LOVE” -as in my song “A Space of Love” – feel free to subscribe if this resonates with you 💙
